Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Michael Gallup has retired, just before the Raiders’ first training camp practice. The veteran WR had participated in OTAs and minicamp for the Raiders this offseason.

Gallup, 28, had signed a one-year contract worth as much as $3 million with the Raiders on April 30, and was expected to compete for the team’s No. 3 receiver spot. However, the team placed him on the reserve/retired list on Tuesday, indicating his retirement. . Gallup also shared several posts about his retirement on his Instagram story.

Gallup joined the Cowboys as a third-round draft pick out of Colorado State in 2018. A six-year NFL veteran, he went on to played six seasons in the NFL, all of them with Dallas. While with the Cowboys, Gallup caught 266 passes for 3,744 yards and 21 touchdowns before the team released him this offseason, two years into a five-year, $57.5 million contract. He went on to sign with the Raiders as a free agent this offseason where he was projected to play in a backup role behind starting wide receivers Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers in 2024-25.
